Mumbai, Oct 15: Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opened the 16th Mumbai Film Festival on Tuesday, and thanked the organisers for getting the “honour” to open it.
Speaking to reporters after the opening ceremony, Aishwarya said: “Kudos to the team and everybody who has made this happen. I knew what was going on and what it took to keep the flag going. I am experiencing the coviction, belief, faith they had to keep this festival going. I take such pride and such an honour to be standing here today and declaring 16th Mumbai Film festival open.”
Aishwarya, Helen and Catherine Deneuve were the guest of honour at the opening ceremony. Helen and Catherine were conferred lifetime achievement awards.
The 16th MAMI film festival will continue till Oct 21. The festival will include 180 films from 65 countries like Germany, France, Australia, Egypt and Poland. The extravagant festival will be a huge platform that will go on for 192 hours spread over 8 days at 3 venues.
The Indian film fraternity will be represented by the well known directors such as Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
For registration, one can visit the official website www.mumbaifilmfest.org or visit Cinemax Versova to register on the spot. All you need to do is carry a valid identity card; delegate pass for students is priced at Rs 1,000 and for other it’s Rs 1,500.
The Mumbai Film Festival will include best of cinema from across the globe. It will premier over 175+ films from over 65 countries. Classic films from Germany, France, Australia, Egypt and Poland will be showcased in this week long movie festival.
