Anantapur train accident: PM Modi condoles loss of lives, expresses grief on Karnataka MLA`s death

New Delhi, Aug 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the loss of lives in a train accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district on Monday.He also condoled the death of veteran Congress leader and Karantaka MLA Venkatesh Naik, who died in the rail accident.

The Prime Minister tweeted on PMO’s official twitter handle, “My thoughts are with the families of all those who lost their lives in the unfortunate accident of the Bangalore City-Nanded express.”

Modi further added: “My condolences to the family of Karnataka MLA Shri Venkatesh Naik. He will be remembered for his service to society.”

At least five persons were killed, including Karnataka MLA Venkatesh Naik, and another 25 were injured on Monday morning when the Bangalore-Nanded Express train collided with lorry which was crossing the railway track in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh.

The collision resulted in the derailment of four coaches.
