New Delhi, Aug 20: The Congress Party on Thursday alleged that ‘weak-kneed’ NDA government has no policy in combating terrorism and took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ’56-inch’ chest assertion during the campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls last year.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told media, “Modi government is, perhaps, one of the most weak-kneed governments when it comes to fighting terror. Modi Government has no policy on fighting terror, internal or external. It has no Pakistan policy. It swings from one extreme of the pendulum to another.”
“We want to remind honourable Prime Minister Modiji that you used to say ‘dhamakon ki gunj mei baat nahi ho sakti.’ He used to say he will show red eyes and the 56-inch to Pakistan. But today, Pakistan is exporting terror, which is killing civilians and also our army men on daily basis,” he added.
Surjewala pointed out that during one year of Modi government, there have been over 850 border ceasefire violations.
“We want to ask Modiji, what is his policy on terror? One hour, you detain Hurriyat leaders, another hour you release them giving the local conditionalities false reasons. What is it and the manner and fashion in which you want to fight terror,” he said.
Accusing Prime Minister Modi of changing his policy on terror by the minute and hour, Surjewala asked: “What is the justification, sanctity, utility of such NSA level talks when there is a belligerent Pakistan, who is refusing to even recognize Jammu and Kashmir, who is exporting terror, who refuse to punish the 26/11 convicts and under whom Dawood Ibrahim continues to flourish?”
In a bizarre turn of events, two out of three Separatist leaders, who were put under house arrest ahead of the NSA-level talks, were released within two hours by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
