Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia

New Delhi, Sept 19: Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has ordered suspension of two top officials of the education department and the principal of the institute of Northwest Delhi.

Apart from the principal of Government Boys School (Alipur), the Deputy Director of Education (Northwest Delhi) and education officer were also terminated on Friday, after finding horrific and filthy conditions in the school.

The Deputy Director had not visited the school in last five years. Also, the school was found in filthy condition with rooms locked and children stuffed into a hall.

Determined to overhaul the education system in the national capital, Sisodia earlier announced that the state government has decided to give more power to the principals of its schools.

The government would also remove administrative bottlenecks so that basic facilities can be provided in schools at the earliest, he announced during the State Teachers Award Function.

He further said, the government has now decided to give more power to principals, so that they get freedom from seeking administrative approvals for small works.

Sisodia said the government favours complete autonomy for school principals, committees and teachers to ensure improvement in functioning of schools.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had added that education is top priority of his government. He appealed to the teachers to bring a revolution in education sector.
