London, June 18: Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has heaped praise on Tottenham Hotspur sensation Harry Kane, expressing that it would be exciting to have the striker in his team.
Harry Kane, who scored 31 goals last season, has been billed as one of United’s key summer transfer targets, with the team willing to make a 40million dollar bid for the England international.
Describing Kane as fantastic, Rooney said that the striker burst onto the scene this season, adding that it would be exciting to have him in his team, the Mirror reported.
United finished fourth in the Premier League table, 17 points behind winners Chelsea, in the last season.
Man City offer 35.5million pounds for Raheem Sterling
Manchester City have stepped up their pursuit of Raheem Sterling by making an increased offer of more than 35.5million pounds for the winger.
The BBC report said that Liverpool are likely to turn down this offer as well after rejecting a bid of 25million dollars from City last week.
Sterling, who has a contract until 2017, stirred up controversy by turning down a new 100,000 pound-a-week contract with the club.
The issue got further highlighted when his agent Aidy Ward allegedly said the player would not sign a new deal even if he was offered “900,000 pounds a week”.
Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager, had expressed last month that he expected Sterling to stay at Anfield for the remainder of his current deal.
