New Delhi, July 23: Both the houses on Thursday were adjourned for the day as the united opposition cornered the government for not initiating action against the tainted ministers.
Several opposition members including Mallikarjun Kharge had given adjournment notices for suspending the Question Hour. Speaker Sumitra Majahan rejected the notices.
BJP chief whip Arjun Ram Meghwal wanted to move a privilege motion against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, Robert Vadra.
Robert Vadra allegedly wrote some castigating remarks against Parliamentarians on his facebook page.
Later, the opposition members belonging to Congress, TRS and others trooped into the well of the House. The TRS members were demanding setting up of a separate High Court for the Telangana.
The Congress members shouted slogans on various corruption issues against the government.
The Rajya Sabha witnessed two adjournments in the pre-lunch session amid uproar over the Lalit Modi episode with the opposition Congress continuously pressing for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s resignation.
As the House re-assembled at noon after its first adjournment, Rajya Sabha chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari wanted to take up the Question Hour but the opposition refused to yield.
As the noisy scenes continued, Ansari adjourned the House till 2 PM, and when it resumed it`s proceeding the noisy scenes continued and the Upper House was adjourned for the day.
This is for the third consecutive day the logjam between opposition and government continued.
