PM Narendra Modi extends greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr, Lord Jagannath’s 138th Rath Yatra

New Delhi, July 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday. He also extended his greetings on the occasion of Lord Jagannath’s 138th Rath Yatra.

The Prime Minister tweeted: “My greetings on this pious occasion of Eid.” The Eid-ul-Fitr festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan.

Extending his greetings on the occasion of Lord Jagannath’s 138th Rath Yatra, the PM posted: “Wishing everyone on the auspicious occasion of the Rath Yatra. Jai Jagannath.”

Lord Jagannath’s chariot left the temple today morning and will return late evening after covering 14 km.

Devotees have thronged the temple town of Puri in Odisha as preparations are in full swing for the annual ‘ Rath Yatra’ which will commence on Saturday.

Huge, colourfully decorated chariots are drawn by hundreds of devotees through what is called the ‘Bada Danda’ or the grand avenue to the Gundicha Temple, located two miles to the North of the Srimandira Temple in Puri.

They return to the latter after a week. Domestic devotees and tourists from abroad take an active part in the procession.
