Wellington, Nov 11: Russian President Vladimir Putin flirted with Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan during Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit’s event, when he put on his coat on her, said an agency report.
According to Stuff.co.nz report, as leaders of 21 Asia-Pacific nations including Russia have converged upon Beijing for the summit, the Russian President was seated next to Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan, who in turn sat next to her husband, Chinese President Xi Jinping during the event.
While Chinese President Xi Jinping was talking to Barack Obama, the Russian President after a brief exchange, abruptly stood up, grasped a tan coat in both hands, and wrapped it chivalrously around the First Lady’s shoulders.
The report said that Peng smiled gracefully, thanked Putin, and sat down – only to surreptitiously slip the coat from her shoulders moments later into the waiting arms of an attendant.
As the video of this exchange went viral on the internet, censors reportedly kicked into action and Chinese news sites pulled it off their sites.
