Sukhbir Badal accuses Congress of having links with ISI, seeks de- recognition of the grand old party

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal

New Delhi, Nov 21: Accusing the Congress Party of being an ‘anti- national’ organisation, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said the grand old party is creating an alliance with the
terrorist organisations, having links with Pakistan’s ISI, just for the sake of political gains.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Badal said: “Everyone knows what Punjab went through in the 80s. Those fifteen years of militancy, disturbance, where thousands of Punjabis were killed, there was communal as well as full disturbance of peace in the state of
Punjab.”

Badal said: “Everyone knows how it started and in order to fight Akali Dal, the Congress encouraged certain elements which then went out of control and that led to full 15 years of disturbance in Punjab which even threatened the nation’s integrity.”

“Today, Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is trying to create the same environment in the state of Punjab,” Badal said.

He also accused the Congress Party for creating an alliance with the terrorist organisations, having links with Pakistan’s ISI, just for the sake of political gains. “The Congress is showing its true colour and it is an anti-national party,” he said.

Earlier, a delegation of Punjab Congress leaders led by party vice-president met President Pranab Mukherjee and submitted a memorandum urging him to initiate a judicial probe into the killing of two persons in recent protests over alleged desecration of Guru Granth Sahib.

After his meeting with the President, the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister told the reporters, “We have requested the President to declare the Congress Party an ‘anti-national’ party and asked for its de-
recognition.”

Rejecting the CBI probe ordered by the Punjab government, the Congress leaders demanded an inquiry to be conducted by a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court.
