Actor-turned politician Khushboo, who joined the Congress on Wednesday, said the grand old party is the only political group that can keep India united.

After joining the party at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Headquarters here, Khushboo told media persons: “It is a great honour to join the Congress. I feel at home with this party. It is the only party that can do good for the people of India. It is the only party that can give you secularism and keep India united.”

Speaking on her role in the party, Khushboo said: “My focus is [working] for the good of the country. Tamil Nadu is also part of the country so my focus is not on that state alone.”

“I will just have to wait for what role I will be playing in the party and only after that I will be able to give a more concrete answer,” she added.

On being asked why she was joining the Congress and not the BJP, she said that she felt ‘at home’ with the Congress, adding: “Why must people always go with a wave? When I am joining Congress, it is because this is where I want to be.”
