New Delhi, July 31: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday filed a fresh FIR, which is the 18th filed in this case, in connection with the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.
At least 64 people believed to be involved in the alleged irregularities committed in the police constable recruitment examination conducted by Vyapam in 2013 have been listed in the FIR.
The fresh FIR has been registered under charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and under the IT Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and the Madhya Pradesh Recognised Examination Act.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the CBI to submit the entire schedule of investigation in cases related to the Vyapam scam by July 31.
Senior advocate Vivek Tankha had said: “The court has asked the CBI to appoint independent prosecutors in the Supreme Court, High Court and trial court so that there can be impartiality in the entire proceeding.”
He further said that the decision whether the apex court will monitor the Vyapam investigation or not will be taken during the next hearing.
